| d) Location and area | The nominated cultural property is a group of buildings of Itsukushima-jinja
(located in Miyajima-cho, Saeki-gun, Hiroshima Prefecture) and
a forested area around Mt. Misen spreading behind the buildings
to form the value of a single property. The rest of Itsukushima
Island and part of the sea in front of Itsukushima-jinja are set
as a buffer zone. The entire area is already protected, enshrouded
in a region designated as a Special Historic Site and a Special
Place of Scenic Beauty and Setonaikai National Park by the national
government of Japan. The location of the nominated property is shown in Appendix 1. The location and area are as follows : i) Geographical position
