System of Cultural Properties

Schematic Diagram of Cultural Properties

The Cultural Properties Protection Law categorizes Cultural Properties into 6 fields: Tangible Cultural Properties, Intangible Cultura Properties, Folk Cultural Properties, Monuments, Cultural Landscapes, and Groups of Historic Buildings. Among these, properties of high importance are designated, registered, or selected, and especially protected.
Regarding Intangible Cultural Properties and Intangible Folk Cultural Properties, in addition to designation, the Commissioner for Cultural Affairs selects properties that require measures such as documentation, and makes efforts to document them.
Other than these, Cultural Properties buried underground are refered to as Buried Cultural Properties, and traditional techniques and skills required to preserve and repair Cultural Properties are refered to as Preservation Techniques for Cultural Properties, which are also to be protected.
