虚堂智愚の語録『虚堂録』巻第七に掲載された偈「送鄱陽復道者」の前半部分にあたる。虚堂智愚は中国・南宋時代の禅僧。育王、浄慈ほか名刹に歴住した高僧で、弟子には南浦紹明(宗峰妙超の師、1235～1308)がいた。
