尾形光琳の｢風神雷神図屏風｣は、同じ図柄が、酒井抱一(さかいほういつ)や鈴木其一(すずききいつ)にもとりあげられて、連綿と描き継がれている。明治以降は、紫紅や安田靫彦(やすだゆきひこ)らがこのモチーフを手がけていて、それぞれの画家が独創性を加味した作品を描いている。
