下膨れの茄子形の胴に鮮やかな発色の染付(そめつけ)で朝顔の花が描かれている。朝顔を磁器の文様として取り上げた例は珍しく、蕾やしぼんだ花もあらわされている。おそらく日本からの注文により、中国の景徳鎮窯において薄茶器としてつくられたものであろう。
