板谷家は、住吉広守（1705～77）の弟子・板谷慶舟広当（1729～97）を初代とする、やまと絵系御用絵師の家系。本資料はこの板谷家に伝来したもので、ここに紹介するのはその一部である。伺下絵や奥御用日記などから、御用絵師の仕事の一端を知ることができる。
